After storytime, an attendee was upset I only had a smiley face hand stamp and not a frowning face hand stamp. They were upset with their caregiver and wanted to use my stamp offering as a form of additional communication. They did cheer up when I told them it's okay to be upset sometimes.

What frightens me the most? A lot of supposedly decent people I know support everyday* cruelty toward the unhoused. *Calling cops, removing tents/encampments, kicking them out of public spaces, etc. I provided assistance to unhoused individuals and a former coworker wanted me fired for it.

I had 24 kids stop by for a full-sized candy bar. That's actually decent for my street; most families head to the neighborhood north of us. I got some reading in, in between visits.
