Thank you Sharon. My grandad worked as a seaside pier ticket collector (tho not Southend). And he was a goldbeater. For a treat, he'd show me his book of gold leaf (not many words in it 😁) The rest I had to research. But he got me off to a good start.

I admire @emilyrinkema.bsky.social 's work. Moved to see we both lost our mothers so early, and share the fear of dying young of the same disease. I'm now 20 years older than my mum was when she died. History/herstory doesn't always repeat huh? Thanks for writing this - I'm sure many will relate.
