Hmmm, I don’t know if this video is verified. But it does not resembles tsunami inundation. Wavelength and frequency seem too short. It’s more like breaking waves. If it’s linked to tsunami, I guess it could be secondary effects (eg resonance). What do you think ⚒️ ? @magalireghezza.bsky.social

A quick map of the #aftershocks of the M8.8 #Kamchatka #earthquake. Aftershocks within the plate (outer rise and deeper intraplate) appear to occur mostly near the large slip patch of the mainshock. More numerous small aftershocks near the epicenter of the mainshock (where the rupture started). ⚒️🧪

First Sentinel-1 interferogram from southern Kamchatka! Lots of what I am assuming are tropospheric signals (e.g. over the volcanoes), but I also see long-wavelength fringes that change in azimuth from the NE (~shore-perpendicular) to the SW (~shore-parallel). Optimistic it could be the earthquake!

Aftershocks from the M8.8 Kamchatka #earthquake will likely continue for years. This sequence now also includes tensional events in the outer rise area, where the subducting slab bends to dive into the mantle. 🧪⚒️

It appears that the Mw8.8 of yesterday triggers outer-rise extensional #earthquakes 👇. Outer-rise earthquakes break the oceanic plate seaward from the trench. They may be large. Little more south, the Mw8.1 of Jan 2007 (outer-rise) followed the Nov 2006 Mw8.3 #Kuril #megathrust #earthquake. ⚒️ 1/2

It appears that the magnitude 7.4 #earthquake of the 20th of July was a foreshock for the Mw 8.7 to 8.8 of today offshore #Kamchatka. Both seem to have broken the #megathrust where the Pacific oceanic plate subducts under Asia. 1/n
