Really important point here about being generous and patient as editors with ECRs👇 It’s even harder to juggle all those commitments when financial precarity is a factor too.

Oh also, feedback on applications. Submitting 15 to 20 applications a year (at least) and getting desk rejected for jobs with no feedback or any recognition of the many hours that have gone into applying is soul crushing and a regular feature of ecr lives. An endless cycle of wasted time.

It strikes me that neo-Victorian writing and perhaps Bronteana in particular has a real problem with just regurgitating and reinforcing anti-Roma racism. Authors, actually educate yourselves before including a marginalised and persecuted group in your historical fiction.
