After getting her base pattern established, I “painted” her hair, towel and mask with latex masking agent. After that I could invoke some magic (with an intentionally misadjusted airbrush) to add the stars:

These books were amongst my favorite fantasy series as a kid. It was wonderful to pull them back down and read them at bedtime with my son. We’d finish most sessions flipping back to the cover and talking, little fingers tracing the figures… The white dragon was the last one before he ‘grew up’.
