Nice video. Might well explain it. When I compiled research from various other authors I ended up with a weird double route that didn't really make sense (included it anyway). The idea of a variable route does roll that in to a more sensible framework.

To what extremes are you willing to go if it comes to your survival? Neanderthals in a cave system in Belgium had to go to extreme lengths to ensure their survival, practicing cannibalism. But not their own people, they brought outsiders in to eat them.

Better photos of torc & discs/terminals on
#Carnyx
. Colour difference suggests torc might be gilded, although by no means certain. From colour, I don't think it's solid gold & they didn't plate then. It could also be bronze, but with better preservation.

Awful for these families & folks nearby. Also thinking the Canals & Rivers Trust may have a bigger bill than they can pay. They were a model for the creation of English Heritage as a charity, so it also reminds us of how exposed such charities can be.

This is enjoyable - both the reader's pacing but crucially the author's ability to pack nuance into such short vignettes. Unfamiliar with the journalist, I prepared myself for the same 'Ladybird Book Prehistory' that usually is excreted by popular writing. What a treat - will seek out the book!
