The Leon County Commission is sending its lobbyists to ask Congress and the Florida legislature to enact stricter gun reform measures, and they’re preemptively endorsing a proposal from the Florida Attorney General on “Missy’s Law.”

On Tuesday, we voted to lobby for common-sense gun safety policies in Florida and Congress. Universal background checks, secure gun storage, Red Flag Laws, and reporting lost/stolen guns. Supported by @studentsdemand.bsky.social, @momsdemand.bsky.social, and @everytown.bsky.social.

🚧 The Pedrick Park Playground 🛝 is temporarily closed for upgrades. Leon County is installing a shade structure over the playground to help keep it cooler for children. We expect the playground to reopen with the new upgrades in about a month.

At yesterday's special County Commission meeting, we voted to keep the fire service fee flat with no increase. We also voted to investigate why the fire service fund may be short in the City of Tallahassee's operations. A financial consultant will review the records and report back. P3
