I have always been surprised the programming text editors don’t include semantics in ⌘F, for example “ignore matches within comments/commented out code” or “find only within string literals.” Does this exist, and I’m just using bad editors?

It’s the 39th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster. If you’ve never watched the HBO series “Chernobyl,” I highly recommend it. The story is true, the acting is phenomenal, and the Soviet mid-1980s aesthetics are on point.

I took some old pixel fonts, turned them into vector fonts, but normalized their cap height… so the original pixel size is now serving as this new strange property – kind of like “pixel resolution.”

I finally started moving away from Medium &c. toward my own site, and I am beginning with three essays I wrote over the years that I’m probably the most proud of. If you haven’t read them, you might like them! If you have, they’ve never looked better. (I actually re-processed all the photos, too.)

Still don’t know what to do with this project, but updated text.makeup with new Unicode/emoji, SF Symbols, transgender symbols, and some other things. The trickiest part was adding explanations for Punycode in international domains, as that encoding/escaping is wild and non-linear! text.makeup

Did anyone ever write a little memento/recognition of room-like user interfaces? In my head it‘s nice, interactive, and very fun. Like a videogame where you switch between worlds. Microsoft Bob and Magic Cap are the most popular, but there is a long tail of those in other shells and videogames.
