It’s so refreshing to see Labour finally attacking Farage and Musk. Crazy that it’s taken so long to try to win the argument, strange that a lot of people either thought they already were doing so or shouldn’t try. Will it help Labour’s polling? I think it will but it can hardly make it worse

In opposition Starmer never even tried to win the argument and got into power by playing it safe, projecting competence and letting the Tories implode. People said it would be fine, he’d be radical in power. Now he’s governing how he campaigned still not trying to win the argument & it’s a disaster

Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it. Yes, they might. And he should wear it as a badge of honour. Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet. Where's the hazard in that?

Can politicians stop calling policies of rivals “not serious”? Sometimes it’s a way of trivializing and dismissing very good ideas. More often it’s completely inadequate as a way of describing truly awful ideas. The ideas are usually very serious, sometimes in a good way, sometimes in a scary way.

I am disgusted by Reform UK's threats to people who have built a life in this country. They are coming for our neighbours. They are coming for our colleagues. They are coming for our friends. We are at a dangerous moment. This hatred cannot be appeased. It must be defeated.

If there any parallel for a government having such a huge majority yet having its entire course dictated by an opposition movement with a handful of MPs? Labour should ignore the polls and focus groups, spend the next four years doing what’s right for the UK. They have absolutely nothing to lose.

Remember when Trump just being elected was enough to torpedo rightwing populism in Canada? What’s happened since and is happening now in the US is far, far worse. There’s really no reason for rightwing populism to be thriving in Europe. If only the media & politicians would really fight against it.
