"An ambitious youth experience scheme, a symbol of a renewed relationship with our closest allies." The words of the Prime Minister a moment ago. I've been campaigning for a closer UK/EU deal since the moment I entered parliament. Great to hear the PM make this central to his case to the country.

I am asking colleagues not to walk into a trap. A leadership contest now would be a gift to our opponents and do long-term damage to the Labour Party and more importantly, the country. The PM has my support and I've penned the below after watching his speech 👇

I said before they won the GE that Labour will probably campaign to rejoin at the end of the first Labour term. I think campaigning at the next GE to rejoin at the very least the SM and CU will happen. It’s a political throw of the dice, nothing to lose.

Voters say Labour failing on housing as a third struggle to pay rent, mortgage. It's neoliberalism. Low wages make buying home difficult. Lack of social housing - Tories sold it. UK not self-sufficient in building materials. Unchecked profiteering. Must jettison neoliberalism.

Genuinely incredible to have such a robotic response to this situation. Haemorrhaging votes. Empowering Farage. Pissing off all voters. And utterly incapable of shaking off their terror of the Daily Mail and their blinkered commitment to an outdated manifesto. Such a terrible waste of power.
