I get my grandparents-in-law's hydro bill redirected to me. Their house is smaller than ours and they use about 70% of the square footage, but because it was built in the 1950's, the energy bill is 3x ours. They have savings so they can afford it but it's gotta be really difficult for many.

It's rare when I see a Canadian flag on a flag pole outside of a home, which is always amusing to me because it's not really a thing to have flag poles here. Really, who are they signalling to? We're in Canada; we know they're Canadian.

Consumers aren't seeing a dime of refunds because that's not how tariffs work. They won't see refunds based off a company's cost of business going up. However temporary, unless the company decides to have a heart. Which, logistically it's a nightmare and also, lol.

In BC at 55 yrs old you could defer property taxes indefinitely at 2% below prime rate. There are many seniors that need this in order to keep their homes (house rich, cash poor.) It will depend on the sector and the competition within that sector. Some goods with heavy competition will come down. We may see a general reduction potentially of many goods, but probably not to pre-tariff levels because in many instances companies will take advantage of knowing we paid more.
