It feels to me as though the Second American Civil War has moved from theoretical politics to reality. The confederates have risen again, using the republican party. They have their own government funded private army that appears to be immune to any kind of oversight. It's beyond time to organize.

My grandaughter recently got the Venmo debit and one of my favorite things to do is suprise her with fun money, while giving her 'chores' like 'be nice to your sister' or 'read a book'. Apps like Venmo have made it a bit easier to be a distance nana.

The irony of Charlie Kirk dying in a school shooting is not lost on me. Political violence should not be tolerated, etc. etc., but in this country we've tolerated school shootings for literal DECADES. Thoughts and prayers, as the saying goes.

I think it's wrong to label the shooting of Charlie Kirk "political violence". He's not a politician, never held political office. He's a vile man who espouses radical views. The fact that his views align with the present GOP ideology doesnt make him a political figure. It just makes him an asshole.

Between Charlie Kirk and farmers losing their farms, my empathy is really being tested this week.
