Not enough people know that you don't hear about the holes in the ozone layer anymore because an international agreement banning production of chlorofluorocarbons was wildly successful and the ozone has recovered since. Change is possible. None of this is inevitable. We can choose differently.

A3 Observers learn vicariously through Doers. If a Doer is rewarded, others may be encouraged to act; if punished, others may stay passive. This is rooted in social learning theory (Bandura).

All of the above impact the reliability of the Hype Cycle for predicatability. Resistance to adaptation due to fear of job loss probably plays a bigger role in necessitating iterations. The time lags suggest iterations, where history would probably lump all into one cycle.

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company. It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create. They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms. I’m happy to invest and/or help

It's such an important question. And, especially related to innovation, the "narratives" on these topics can be quite convoluted (... and, often, IMHO, wrong!). There's a lot of truth in the old saying that the biggest risk is in not taking any!

A4. Personally, I have no issue shutting down on an activity at the end of a session / day. It's important to recognize when something is becoming a stressor in our lives. Same applies to knowing if you are the cause.

Probably can’t completely avoid getting fake news - in some cases fake news is sought for irony/sarcasm/jovial release - but processing all news before re-broadcasting is wise.
