This morning I have written to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice @angelaconstance.bsky.social MSP to register our concern over plans by the Home Secretary to provide new protest policing powers to police forces in England and Wales and to ascertain if the CabSec intends to mirror this in Scots law.

Take no comfort in the fact the amendment was defeated, there remains a concerted number at Westminister and elsewhere who are of the mentality that trans identities are invalid and they seek to remove the ability for persons to transition and have that recognised in any meaningful way.

Who we are evolves and just as much as the way others see us changes, the way we see ourselves changes too. This move by Tory MP Ben Spencer, if it were enacted, would put trans people at further risk. (…)

Very true. Worryingly, we seem to have an electorate atm that wants insta results from a devolved government. Mind you, that would be nice, but that's not a reality, especially as you've pointed out Scotland doesn't have the full powers of a normal country.

And that's even before we're independent 😊! Think what an independent Scotland back in the EU could achieve!

Is this "gloves off" fighting talk from Stephen Flynn? Is this the boot up the bahookee some of the Scottish public have been waiting on? It's now ALSO time for the majority Indy Parties at Holyrood for the last 11 years to - in his words - "show courage and take control of our own destiny".

The SNP will confront Nigel Farage, not cosy up to him. With independence, people in Scotland would always be in charge of our future, not Westminster governments that ignore our values. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
