For the first time in modern history, Scotland, Wales & N. Ireland are all politically led by nationalist parties at the same moment. That should not be treated as three isolated regional events. It should be recognised for what it is - a constitutional warning sign for the United Kingdom itself.

My own region. 91257 2nd votes for SNP. SNP won all 8 of the constituencies. 8 +1 = a divisor of 9, which meant that 91,257 became 10,139. 81,118 2nd votes binned. Factor in a frankly frightening number of list votes for Nigel plc all over Scotland, and they got 17 MSP's. SNP got only 1, remember.

So there we have it. As many of us tried to warn that voting SNP 1 and 2 would likley be a waste of list votes, SNP1 and Scottish Greens would have elected an even bigger majority of pro-Indy MSPs. Still, 73 is excellent. Now we need urgent action by SNP and Scottish Greens on independence.

With such a disappointing low turnout, the plus side of Scotland’s result is: 1. SNP re-elected as the progressive Scottish Government ✔️ 2. Scottish Greens ensure there's still a pro-indy majority. ✔️ 3. Four Parliament elections in a row with pro-indy majority ✔️ 4. Reform UK in third place ✔️

Lord Offord Reform UK doesn't win the seat in the constituency he paid Farage for. He will likely get a pass through the back door with a regional seat.

The early results from England’s council elections are quite alarming. Can Scotland draw a clear distinction between ourselves, showing that we are a progressive, compassionate country whose independence is long overdue?

My dream would be an SNP majority, the Scottish Greens in second place and a legal super majority (2/3rds) indy support.

A historic shift away from the usual 50/50 “𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲” split unionists constantly bang on about. A 60/40+ pro-independence majority in the Scottish Parliament would be a clear, 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 mandate. One that can’t be ignored and strips away their main line of attack. Make both votes count.

The Scottish Labour-Anas Sarwar messaging in today's Record is an admission of defeat for Labour in the Holyrood elections. Unusual for a party the day before polling: hoping to maximalise its vote to have an influence on "the new government": ie: not Labour.

Almost certain to secure a seat in Scotland’s Parliament. Offord tops the West Scotland regional list while also standing in Inverclyde constituency. In effect, a millionaire Lord bought himself into Holyrood. So the obvious question is, if there’s nothing in it for him, why would he do that?

A second vote for the SNP is effectively wasted if it’s not given to the Scottish Greens. Otherwise, most of the 56 regional seats will go to unionist parties and I can’t see why anyone serious about independence would encourage that, let alone vote for it. 🟡 SNP Constituency 🟢 Greens Regional

To be honest, I’m not a big fan of either Green party, but I’d still take them over most others. This kind of headline reporting is right-wing bias. We see it in Scotland all the time. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆. It’s pretty sickening.

Westminster owned unionist seats could drop due to voter apathy amid the current UK political chaos but low turnout could also end up saving them. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻 A historic pro-independence majority is within reach and a high turnout would give it real legitimacy. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁

It’s likely that Mr Swinney will return as First Minister and hopefully with a strengthened Scottish Greens helping to secure a historic pro-indy majority. Voters must back both parties and hold them to the task. No drifting, no delay and no stepping back from advancing the cause of independence.

Further evidence (if needed) that MPs elected in Scotland shouldn’t be described as “Scottish party" representatives if the leader of their "Scottish" party has no control over how they vote and they instead follow the direction of the UK party leadership. www.thenational.scot/news/2606301...
