I’m not going to talk about Splatoon at all anymore at least in terms of the comp scene. The scene is what it is and while I hope it changes that’ll take people listening to the voices that matter. Which I hope will happen. But I’m cynical so considering I have no stake imma remove this headache.

Also to clarify my stance the people in top level only speaking out NOW is indicative that they did not see these people returning as an issue. Some of which have actively been friends with these people and even welcomed them back. Shame to those who have done that. Be better.

Allowing bigots back into the scene will only further alienate BIPOC, queer folk and minorities. Most of the top players, TOs and figureheads of the scene are cisgender heterosexual white men. It's not hard to see why this behavior doesn't bother them.

If I said I was disappointed in the competitive scene for trying to sneak Madness back in, I'd be lying because that would assume that I had any hope for competitive Splatoon at all. This scene is unsalvageable.

The amount of professionalism it takes for a black person to have to commentate a Jackpot set then a set with a racist player. Ill never get why dapple thinks its acceptable to never acknowledge problematic people in their tourneys and why were all just okay with platforming racists again.

I've said it before, but I sincerely think we need a mindset shift so that being part of the splat community is seen as a privilege, not a right. You don't get to play in tournaments run by volunteers for free if you're going to be a racist blowfly. Readmittance has to be truly earned, not assumed.
