Happy Father’s Day. Thinking about the men who shaped me today. My dad, who I miss everyday, gave me my roots, the lessons, the grit, the love that started it all. He didn’t have to step in, but he did, and I’ll always be grateful for the example he’s set.

What happened in Minnesota was an assassination. A Democratic state rep and her husband were murdered in their home. A Democratic state senator and his wife were shot. This was not random. It was political violence.

Last week I gathered in Washington DC with veterans from around the country. We stood in solidarity against the proposed cuts to the VA, and blatant disrespect the administration and its officials have shown to our service members.

Last year, Congress had a bipartisan deal on the table to finally start fixing our broken immigration system. Democrats and Republicans agreed: we need secure borders and a system that works. One that gives our courts and agencies the tools they need. Donald Trump killed it.
