House Dems passed real transit funding—sustainable, recurring, no new taxes, and $600M for roads/bridges. Senate Rs blocked it. Thanks to Gov. Shapiro & PennDOT, PRT got a $106.7M stopgap to avoid cuts & fare hikes, but without long-term funding, riders stay at risk.

🧵(1/4) I’m relieved that Pittsburgh Regional Transit will avoid devastating service cuts and fare hikes in the near term. No one should lose their bus to work, a ride to school, or a connection to medical care because of a budget impasse.

Today we remember the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the first responders, firefighters, and service members who ran toward danger to keep us safe. Too many still face broken systems when they need care. We must do better—for our first responders, and for one another.

Having a seat at the table isn’t a privilege—it’s a right. I’m proud to support the Advanced Practice RNs at Magee-Womens Hospital as they join their RN colleagues in unionizing for quality care, safe staffing, and fair pay.
