You know it's an ideological Cognitive dissonance. I oppose the death penalty here but I admire when the Chinese execute CEOs. I hate markets and yet I see that China's mix of authoritarian socialism with markets seems to provide the greatest chance for upward mobility. Idealism can be wrong.

(But I'd be quite happy with a system like China where it's actually meritocratic and equality and opportunity are much more important than how many billionaires can shove their fist up the average person's ass in the name of the Lily White sacrosanct ideals of liberal democracy.)

One last thing about parfaits. I get that they were unhealthily large I understand that I accept it I understand they're cutting costs everywhere but when a grocery store deli parfait is half the size it was 5 years ago I expect to pay less not more. Every year is the worst year of our life.
