Really enjoyed using the same table scaffolding as a way of solving combined measures problems in #MathsToday

In #MathsToday we looked sequences with year 8. Trying out using the language of "positioN to term rule" as opposed to "finding the nth term" to focus on the differences with Term to Term rules. Also discussed what other fun patterns they noticed in the table and whether we could describe those!

Had a great discussion in our department CPD about the link between student oracy, mathematical communication and understanding. How do you ensure students know which expression you mean when you are explaining? How do you explicitly teach them to talk about their maths? #MathsToday #iteachmaths
