Like don't get me wrong, it plays slower than every edition after it but the game back then was about a couple of friends getting together to tell a story through their models and dice, not jam through 3-4 games a day in a tournament setting and it shows with how immersive it was.

Looking through some of my old rule books and, honestly, I think 2nd ed 40k might be the best edition that exists. It has more definition than 1st ed, but still has plenty of the weird fluffy rules that started to get stripped from the game from that point onward.

I think one of my favourite tf ideas is the idea that layering multiple tfs on top of each other results in a kind of pressure on the person. The more tfs the greater that pressure and the more it merges those first tfs with the person permanently. There could be a lot of fun factors to it too.
