So much for writing this week… I got a cold and decided I wasn’t up to joining my writing buddy for our session at fhe coffee shop this week 😭 (it is very hard for me to write without leaving the house usually)

The further I get into writing my novel the harder it is to resist the urge to start editing what I’ve already written. There are so many things I know need to be fixed to make the pacing better and the motivation of the mc stronger! I KNOW i gotta keep going to finish what I know will change 😭

Just hit 50k on my WIP!! 🎉 Its a word count goal I’ve never been able to hit on single project before. I’m incredibly proud of myself for persisting and not falling into the trap of second-guessing everything and immediately re-writing the beginning a thousand times.

Every time I see a book with a similar idea to what I’m writing I have to remind myself that there’s no way that someone else would be able to stumble onto the *exact* same unhinged combination of ideas. I done even know how I got here.

Omg I loved the new Superman so much!! Incredibly well written with so much goofy, yet realistic dialogue, compelling character moments even with minor characters, and just all of the best parts of Superman and his universe in general.

I am coping with all the bad by rediscovering escapism. Writing fantasy and trying to feel whimsy and hope despite everything. At the very least I can make something else that will make them mad…

Writers, what details do you care way too much about including and properly describing despite knowing it doesn’t matter? For me, its clothes/“character design.” I need to know exactly what every character is wearing/looks like, and probably linger on those descriptions too long on the page…

Today is my last day at my job!! I quit because my boss told me that, as my employer, she could talk down to and belittle me all she wanted, and if I didn’t like it, I could resign. So i thought about it and yeah, resigned. Grateful I am in a spot rn where I can stand up for myself.

Hey if you or your loved ones are at any risk of cervical cancer and are able to, get the HPV vaccine. Its an absolutely incredible feat of modern medicine and i think its available to way more age groups now too? Also you do not have to be sexually active to get it!!

Nothing like showing up to work and finding out half way through my shift that I was supposed to be off today. Now I’m finishing the shift. But at least no one is here so i can listen to youtube videos while i work.

This is how you become a writer: just pick one of the things that is deeply wrong with you. Make it a character. Now send it on a self-help journey or try to kill it. Now call it a book.

I didn’t realize how perfectionism is a form of rigid thinking and how common it is w/autistic folks until a therapy session a few months ago. Now I’m very aware of the walls that guide my thoughts, but I keep bouncing off of them whenever I try to allow my writing to be imperfect.

This is still my advice: Become a writer anyway. Fuck it, do it, it won't save you, but it's still a beautiful dream to write novels and short stories and poems and mingle with other dreamers and make art and laugh in the face of death. And writing is constant death. Live más.
