Tkaa sort of feel like an attempt of delving on the horror aspect of ff7. Jenova was clearly inspired by the Thing and portion at Icicle inn is remniscent of the location where the movie takes place. Prior to the novel, Jenova's shapeshifting powers were never truely explored too.
