has an episode on use of "racist" in news. Their interviewees (NPR's Woods and Memmott) seemed incredibly naive. How about now fellas? I hope you understand how failing to call a spade a spade has enabled our current state.

A lot of misconceptions many Americans have about the civil rights and anti-war movements have to do with their effectiveness at changing opinion. A lot of the successes had more to do with top-down elite buy-in due to Cold War competition over societal narratives than bottom-up changes in opinion.

Friendly holiday reminder that people rush to submit before the holidays and declined reviews get even worse than usual. And editors want to enjoy holiday time, too. Patience and grace to all (and to all a good night)!

This is not only epically stupid, but incredibly misogynistic. It's somehow considered charming when men act like ignorant doofuses about raising children. But if a woman said this, the shaming and name calling would be overwhelming.

50 years after the birth of special education, some fear for its future under Trump
The Trump administration has fired, or tried to fire, many of the federal staff who manage and enforce federal disability law in schools.

This indiscriminate dismantling of education research has been plaguing my colleagues & dear friends all year. Eliminating the penny spent on education research will do nothing for the federal debt but will continue US decline in world rankings.

It is deeply frustrating that I have to sift through 4 full pages of “simple/easy” recipes that cut corners before I can find the proper recipe I’m looking for. I don’t begrudge anyone that wants the simple version. But damn, the paid placement has made proper search near impossible.

Does anyone else have students that apologize too much? I've noticed a big increase in students apologizing for things like, "bothering" me during office hours, mediocre performance on a quiz, asking questions about an assignment, or getting feedback on work. None of these require an apology.

Honest legal question here: W/ the SC carveout for Fed independence, is the suit necessary (or even wise)? If the president does not have the authority to fire Cook isn't the best course of action to just ignore it?
