Lord, You are our source of life, for all good things come to us from Your loving affection. Amen. A blessing for our third week of Ordinary Time.

Nineteen years ago @jordanprins.com and I got married. Over our two years of dating it was clear she was someone of depth and knew me in ways no one else had. We’ve only gotten better year after year. Here is to many more together!

Our cat had a great day getting blessed at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity here in Paris (part of the Episcopal Convocation of Europe). Many comments for how fluffy and how big he is. I’m pretty sure he was bigger than half the dogs who were there. ⚓️

Overheard (in my apartment) : “ya know, Christ was a bit of a goofball…” I may need to keep that in the back of mind next time I engage the text.

Today a woman at the #NoKings protest in Paris told @paul.urbanmonastic.org he was the “most attractive priest she’d ever seen”… I mean, I don’t disagree… but 😂

Every month I treasure these times together. From the liturgies to the conversation. Just so meaningful to connect, share, and be encouraged. This conversation on embodying the fruit of the Spirit is easily one of my favorites. Top 5 from the last 4 years. It was so rich, personal, and encouraging.

Christmas is a tough time of year to be an immigrant. I’m so glad that our families over there get to enjoy each others company. Being so far away is just hard. Could you pray for us, and all those like us who are far from family this holiday?

The foundation of Christian hospitality is seeing all people as human. That they are loved and cherished by God. Let us confront the impulse to dehumanize others wherever we hear or see it. Justice, Peace, and our coexistence depend on it.

Please do the hard internal work to stay open, tender, gentle, and loving. It is worth it. Contemplative prayer is its foundation. Every year I am still here, it gets harder to stay tender. Yet, the softness of my spirit is the richness that gives life to my faith in Jesus and joy with others.

Just making sure this corner of the internet is covered, in terms of floof.

We assign human-relationship metaphors to the divine, & in turn re-interpret our human relationships in light of the divine. By doing this, do we diminish the divine? Or over-elevate relationships? If Jesus was fully human, how do we engage with a transcendant God? Light musings on a Friday night.
