i forgot to post this, or maybe i just didn't want the attention it would get; years back i found out from an ex Konami employee that there were major layoffs due to MGSV missing its fiscal year date. they gutted divisions after MGSV missed 2(?) deadlines (holiday 2014 & spring 2015).

it's pretty ridiculous how people will champion an engine because their favorite creator or game uses it. Engines don't make good games. Developers do.

I really don't want MGS1 in widescreen. It would be GREAT but-- it wasn't made with widescreen in mind. You would be able to see textures missing or if they go the Bluepoint route, the screen would be zoomed in & that's the last thing you want in MGS1. It's already hard seeing what's in front of you

The SH2 team doesn't get enough credit. 3 core members leave after the success of SH1: Naoko Sato (scenario/designer), Keiichirou Toyama (director), Isao Takahashi (art director). There wasn't enough time to study the architecture of the PS2. It's not a sequel. And yet, they still pulled it off.

Betray your audience; The motto Kojima gave when asked for advice. He leaned on that motto exclusively, leaving some natural storytelling on the cutting room floor. When you apply the same principle over and over again, it loses its specialty. Things go unnoticed or forgotten.

Fandoms & their interests follow the Bucket Rule. The further away you are from the bucket (casual fan) the more you can imagine (and allow) endless possibilities contained within the bucket. That interest isn't restricted to one medium; it can become a show, movie, radio drama.

The selective discourse between fan & developer is interesting. What fans choose to believe & discard from Masahiro Ito or Yoji Shinkawa depends on the passion of their headcanon. If Shinkawa says Snake is British or Blond, why is there pushback? But there isn't when describing MGS4's Raiden.

Something I like that's been carried over from V to Δ is that the character models look like animated action figures. When seeing that first TPP gameplay trailer under the Fox Engine, I saw what could be described as those army men static figures in motion. They're using the UE5 engine similarly.

I have a theory on why the Twin Snakes VA was more subdued than the original (and the whole series). Going by what Blaustein said about SH2's voice auditions (how it's difficult for the JP developers to catch on English vocal nuances), I think you had JP dev over Zimmerman's shoulder at all times.

Raspberry RT someone who had gone back to being an artist at 41. Since then I've been thinking about going back to illustrating. Today, Mitch voiced his frustrations at being an artist. It's not easy. It takes a toll on you physically & mentally. I will start this week.

Got into a debate about being able to change difficulties on the fly for MGS3 Δ. I mentioned, although it's a great option for modern games, it can't be applicable for MGS3 because of its design. For example, a difficulty switch for MGS3 would screw up the code name ranking at the results screen.
