@12tone.nebula.tv having been in a choir, I agree about the high "ee" sound. My favorite example of doing this well is Flower of Carnage on the Kill Bill (vol 1) soundtrack. It's Japanese, so the pronunciation is critical, and she nails the high note with that vowel sound.
