It's silly season! Today I've already checked in with Emmy Happisburgh and the Second Summer of Love team in Stage Two, and Harry Baker who is doing 2 shows over at the Playhouse. Now I'm away on a 6-hour train journey to Chester to rehearse Spy Movie: The Play!'s hour-long version for Edinburgh.

When I saw the doc 'What's the Matter with Tony Slattery?' I felt I knew him. When I was offered his solo show I grabbed it - I wanted him to see how much he is loved. It was going to be next week. Today feels cruel & deeply sad. I hope he can see the outpouring of love somehow.

Finally got round to seeing Beth Steel's 'Till The Stars Come Down' and oh what a rollercoaster it is. So refreshing to see characters I grew up around on stage. And it's not every day the Snooty Fox at Old Ollerton gets a mention at the Nash!

Leftfield xmas telly recommendation: Alien on Stage (Amazon Prime). It follows a Dorset amateur theatre group who decided instead of a panto to make a stage version of Alien. A totally joyful celebration of creativity & community - so much fun!

The bar downstairs from me is hosting a work do, & there's currently an award ceremony going on. Droning speech punctuated by woos and occasional waaays, but my favourite bit is someone sitting outside clapping alone for way too long every time.

Soho Theatre tonight for a bit of Ball & Boe. Very excited for this one!

Remembering that time I was made redundant at Christmas and then forced to work 13 hour days 22nd - 28th so that the people who'd kept their employment could have a little break. What a caring, sharing organisation that was.

Last working day of the year for me. End of term. I'm expecting Connect 4 & Guess Who and not real work, obvs. (Kidding, I need to find a way to cram 2 weeks work into the next 8 hours somehow)
