A friend told me he knows he should wear a mask, but he keeps asking me “don’t you find wearing it to be kind of depressing?” and though I wanted to say that what I find depressing are seeing those who know they should mask refusing to do so, but instead I just said: no, I don’t.

Remember: when they ask “People who rarely get sick, what’s your secret?” they do not want to hear about the kind of mask you wear, the activities you refrain from, or the precautions you take, they want to know your secret because they can’t imagine doing what they know you do.

This person was infected with COVID twice and recovered. A 3rd infection brought manageable long COVID symptoms, but they were still able to work. After a 4th infection a few months ago, they haven’t recovered at all — showing how repeated infections can cause severe, lasting damage.

Whenever I read studies with findings such as: “Alzheimer Disease Patients Who Survived COVID-19 Have Rapid Disease Progression and a Higher Risk of Death at 5-year Follow-up,” I am reminded that none of us have truly “Survived COVID-19,” we are still just trying to survive it.

This is a pretty frivolous question but are there any fellow #COVID-cautious #evermaskers who’ve risked getting tattoos in the past few years? A new tatt would really boost my morale.
