City staff will be accepting input until Sept. 15th, 2025 and I hope people will support the parking fees as it will help provide much needed funds for the park while discouraging gratuitous car trips in the neighborhood. Traffic and pollution cause by park visitor can be a lot for Uptown.

Once you accept that the fact that all other modes besides cars benefit from extra space beyond the sidewalk it becomes clear that the current standards for bike lane design are inadequate in urban areas. The 5' separate lane isn't great for urban areas with a broad array of user speeds.

This bank of the Seine in Paris was a former expressway. The good consequence is that there are ramps originally made for cars to access it, not just stairs or old cobblestones ramps. And then you can see people in wheelchairs in the crowd there, like in this photo.

Opponents of lower speed limits in cities often argue that they would actually increase emissions. But it's actually a lot more complicated than that. This study looks into it properly and finds that they can reduce emissions by 10%

A body of research supports the fact that curb stops and even flex posts are effective in limiting incursion from vehicles into the bikeway and reducing collisions by 50% on average. If similar reductions aren't occurring on Coast Hwy in Cardiff it's likely due to the design and target design users

NEW STUDY found that “the growing number of SUVs reduced the vehicle capacity of freeway lanes in Minnesota’s Twin Cities by 9.5% between 1995-2019. Their findings suggest yet another way in which ‘car bloat’ exacerbates problems that affect everyone, regardless of how they travel.”

How SUVs Are Making Traffic Worse
As larger, taller sport utility vehicles took over US roads, they also aggravated highway congestion, according to a new study. It’s yet another ill effect of “car bloat.”
