Thoroughly recommend Hayley Gullen's account to.clinicians, carers and anyone experiencing cancer. People shouldn't have to be brave or display stoicism, as NHS providers we should allow space for tears, sadness and anger.

There are plenty of guides about “what not to say to someone with cancer” and while I fully agree with these (and have offered my own advice on this matter) I don’t want loved ones to feel too nervous about reaching out with clumsy words. Better to do that than not be there at all. #cansky
