Sometimes I want to post things like "It's so important to spend time alone in the woods," but my friends are on here and they would make fun of me.

Have my fellow Union Theological Seminary alums no pride? Are we really going to let ourselves be out aura-farmed by a guy who got his MDiv from Princeton? They're calling him Hot Priest now. We've gotta step up our protest game.

It’s also pretty funny to specifically use a “love your neighbor as yourself” quote in order to whip up resentment towards other people. Like did you really *get* what those religious vegetables were trying to tell you?

bonuses to heretic/apostate/blasphemer phrasing: -emphasizes this is an internecine faith dispute -does not put the onus on nonchristians to sort good from bad -gets to the meat of it (punchy) -does not imply christianity and goodness are synonymous

I don't want autistic people to not exist but I do want people to give a shit about how difficult it is to be the family member of an intellectually disabled person. Being on social media today feels like being a kid again, trying to tell people you're struggling and being met with condemnation.

Also, this is what is wrong with the cable news formula. Even when they know nothing, they must fill the air and so they fill it with speculation. We don’t know why this terrible shooting happened. It’s dangerous to speculate motives or politics. Please stop.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

I think it's good to keep getting mad about evil and unjust things, if only to remind yourself and everyone else that these things are in fact evil and unjust. I don't think it's naive. Nor is it wise and sophisticated to adopt a "You fool, nothing matters and nothing good can ever happen" posture
