Apparently in the US at the turn of the 20th century, there was necessary prep (shopping etc.), but Christmas didn't start 'til Christmas Eve when the tree was decorated, then Christmas Day was presents & party & sometimes a program at a local congregation, then more parties through New Year's Day.

I just do not like sandwich bread (even homemade batter bread) anymore & am grateful to have a few flatbread recipes to make. I tried the mayonnaise flatbread today & it's good. I heard of an Icelandic flatbread while channel surfing recently so I'll have to do some 'net searching for the recipe.

On the way back from an errand, we saw a yard with Christmas decorations--a Santa Claus, two reindeer, and oversized ornaments. The decorations are elegant but it's just way too early! We also saw some Halloween yard decorations, LOL, and a few Thanksgiving decorations.
