The Aurora Borealis last night from my yard. Not a full viewing. But my first time seeing it all.

Watched Burnt Offerings last night. Loved it. Basically, a woman will go mad and kill everyone if her only role is mother, wife, housekeeper, and cook. But the house will look beautiful.

My hometown. A majority Black city. Lots of poverty due to racist system’s like redlining. Child poverty is like 40 percent there. My mom and sister were killed by crime in Memphis. And I do not want nor think it’s necessary for the National Guard to be there.

A leftist wouldn’t wear that shirt.

ICE kidnapping people and throwing them in concentration camps is political violence. Ending legal abortions is political violence. Ending gender affirming care is political violence. Cutting Medicare is political violence. Sending the National Guard to US cities is political violence.

This is abhorrent. Gender and sexuality are facts of life. Transgender people exist. Trans rights are human rights. And I don’t care what the racist bigoted ignorant and hateful jerk in the highest office in our country says because he is WRONG. And he’s a rapist and a pedophile.

I love my new job. Very grateful for it. My colleagues are very kind, and my students are amazing.

The Covid/flu vaxes have me tired and sore. But much better than Covid or the flu. And I’ve been needing an excuse to couch rot.

It’s the end of the world as we know it, and I don’t feel fine. I don’t think anyone is fine. Except billionaires.

Since moving to a small town in Michigan, all I do is take walks at all the parks and trails. Not much else to do unless I venture out to Grand Rapids, Lansing, or Detroit. I’m not complaining. I love a mild summer with gorgeous wildflowers and a clear river.

It is 2025. You get a push notification from a bird reminding you to drink water. Hurry, before the robots drink it all.

I’ve been having good days while the already fallen world falls more apart. It’s summer. I’m walking. I’m reading. I’m writing. I don’t know anyone in this town beyond my soon to be colleagues and Richard. It feels like being lost. Or hidden. I wish the government could understand love and care.

I had an agent once. He didn’t sell my book. But he tried. He was a great agent. A dream agent. No complaints with him. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. (The editors continuously mentioned the nonlinearity of the collection, apparently nonlinear is a hard sell)
