I just saw a call for book chapters about using AI as a “pedagogical partner” to teach psychology. AI can’t be your partner in teaching, because it doesn’t *know* anything. Teaching is part science and part art — AI doesn’t do either of those parts well.

I think the worst thing about living in Canada so far is that there's no Diet Mountain Dew here. They have Mtn. Dew Zero, but that's a soulless beverage for feckless children.

I think in part the higher education funding crisis and the LLM-teaching crisis actually strike at the same problem, which is that education doesn't work without a broad, society-wide sense that the *actual content* of education - not the credential - is valuable.

Autism diagnoses are required to open up a world of legally-obliged support resources that have profound impact on the welfare of autistic people. If we stop diagnosing autism, we’ll have a generation of autistics with extraordinarily poor outcomes.

The same achievement inflation we see at the undergraduate level (why are we expecting undergrads to publish research???) has definitely made its way into the professoriate.

In response to RFK’s autism registry, I want to look into mental health professionals’ (MHP) perspectives on the proposal and existence of current databases. MHP’s, particularly diagnosticians, are often front line reporters. Any interest in collaboration on this? DMs are open.

This is exactly why I’ve been so vocally pro-self-identification of autism for so long—even through the clinical pushback. People shouldn’t have to fear BEING ON A LITERAL FEDERAL LIST to begin self-accommodating or to have their schools/workplaces take them seriously.

There are already multiple states (including mine) with autism registries. What do they do with the data? Who knows; they’ve never responded to my questions.

Adidas changed my safe shoe. As an autistic, it can be difficult to find clothes that feel “right.” I wear the same shoes most days: Adidas Dailies. They’ve changed over the years, but not significantly. From v.2.0 to 3.0 was manageable. 3.0 (left) to 4.0 (right) is unwearable for me.

Being autistic means spending 2 hours after taking a jurisprudence exam for the practice of psychology highlighting and citing the legal errors in the examination and sending those annotations to the state licensure board.

One thing I've noticed in my growing bubble of Canadian academics is that they put all of their degrees after their names (e.g. John Doe, B.A., M.S., Ph.D.). In the States, we default to only the highest degree. I think that's silly. We should more openly celebrate our academic accomplishments.

An ADOS or MIGDAS + some ASD screeners is NOT a comprehensive autism evaluation. It's not a "test battery." Be wary of clinicians offering these "diagnostic" services. You can't offer diagnostic services if you don't have the training or skills for differentials. #actuallyautistic
