Steven Universe has multiple characters with low status jobs and even a song complaining about how degrading it is, but there are no managers in the setting. Business just run themselves I guess. I suspect no one in the crew ever had a real job. (There are two band managers though)

The lesson of Overwatch: don't play games that have out of game incentives to play. (Loot boxes, etc.) Even if you don't engage with the loot boxes, the other players are, and it makes them awful to play with. Hateful community.
