This started out with a random thought and, then, very quickly, a solid conviction. I'm excited, again, to be wearing many hats (designer; dev; vibes curator; social media yapper etc. 😜) with
@www.jvt.me.web.brid.gy
in making BB—with your support—a lasting success for Nottingham 💛

BATCH BUNCH #0010 is complete. A buzzing evening featuring riveting convos on code, art, AI, and podcasts. It was awesome to connect over monthly October-driven projects, too, like Inktober. See you next time? 🖱️⌨️😌🌐☕️

There isn't really a secret trick to identifying AI writing. It does things because they appear in the training data; real writers use em dashes, so the AI does as well. But blending that writing and extruding it back out as homogeneous sludge eliminates any passion or joy. The dashes are zombies.

biased but notts folks (+beyond!) deserve to attend at least ONCE. best part? everyone's welcoming, kind, curious. the hustle is "organic" because the env promotes attendees to work on a thing that excites them, a thing they're curious about or even a thing they've been avoiding for weeks/months 😌

Friends, I wrote a piece on poet Laura Gilpin, who died of glioblastoma in 2006. She is best known for “The Two-Headed Calf.” With gratitude to the Poetry Foundation for allowing me to try to restore this remarkable healthcare practitioner/poet’s legacy.

(if you permit me to toot my own horn for a min 😅) i am so, so proud of myself for pulling this off. the idea of "omg, we need cake" was simple in my mind but executing it with BB-level finesse (& trusting myself to find a sponsor) was much harder 💛 community is the brand ✔️

Corporate comms tip of the day: use title case to transform random words into proper nouns. This will create the impression that you have an official Plan of Action and not just lowly concepts.

What’s more exciting to me as an editor than under 30 debut lists? A poet who returns with something exquisite after a decade of silence. Books that take years to discover their shape, not more-of-the-same sequels to best sellers. Poets who reinvent themselves because life has reinvented them.
