Fish survey at Petty’s Brook, Basingstoke Electrofishing helps us safely identify & record fish before releasing them back into the river. 📊 The data shows which species are present and informs restoration plans with Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council. Fish recover within seconds — none harmed.

A week on from the Environment Agency update, the findings still matter. 3,000+ breaches show the scale of the issue — and shouldn’t be happening in the first place. Prevention is better than cure. On #WorldHealthDay, we stand with science. We need faster, proactive action to protect rivers.

🌿 London has launched its Local Nature Recovery Strategy — highlighting rivers like the Wandle, Hogsmill and Cray as priority habitats for wildlife. Many of our river restoration projects already support these goals. Find out more via the news section on our website.

Restoring the River Wandle at Richmond Green 🌿 Work is underway on a 400m stretch of the river in Beddington — removing old toeboards, reshaping banks & adding natural features like gravel riffles and wood deflectors. Why? To help the river flow more naturally & create better habitat for wildlife.

This isn’t dumping gravel. It’s restoring a river for wildlife. We’ve seeded 500+ tonnes of gravel into the Hogsmill to create spawning habitat for trout and the invertebrates that support the whole ecosystem. Funded by Natural England, this work is helping bring wildlife back. #WorldWildlifeDay

Rainy days show why working with nature matters 🌧️🌿 At Green Farm, hosted by Kent Wildlife Trust & funded by Southern Water, NFM features were slowing flows, storing water and boosting habitat. A great example of partnership working and why scaling up NbS matters.

Flood warnings are in place across the South East after Storm Chandra. 🌧️ On the upper River Mole, nature-based solutions are already working: a leaky dam in Ruben’s Ghyll is holding back fast-rising water, while 600+ new hedgerow whips over 250m help slow runoff and protect communities. #SlowTheFlow

Turning donations into data – and data into action for the River Wandle 💧 Thanks to Crowdfunder support, we’ve carried out sediment testing at 10 sites to understand pollution pressures and target restoration where it will make the biggest difference for wildlife and river resilience.
