4.5/5. @joshmalerman.bsky.social is just always great. Loved revisiting the world of Bird Box. The idea of trying to find lost family is great and the world trying to modernize while still not seeing is a very interesting aspect. Not sure I love the description of the creatures but that's it

There is a lot to juggle mentally in this book but this will for sure have to be re-read to watch the whole novel unwrap in a whole new way. Just fantastic

4/5 stars. Honestly been a week since I finished it. Wasn't sure at first but the more I think the more I enjoyed it. Loved the very different vampire lore and the revenge plot.

4.5/5 stars easily for The Twisted Ones by @tkingfisher.com . I love her writing and her humor in here towards NPR has me cracking up, but this was creepy and unsettling. It has you constantly on guard waiting for the next creepy horror. Also can I get some more Foxy??? She is just a badass!

4/5 for What Moves the Dead by @tkingfisher.com. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one going into it and loved the concept. I remember reading about zombie ant fungus so I had an idea where it was going but it was still fun getting there. Can't wait to read the next, but first The Twisted Ones

4/5 stars. Really enjoyed the writing, the friendship, the creatures. Was a really interesting story with all the stuff about Hurricane Maria and what it did to PR. I am just not sure about the ending. Just didn't care for it really. It's too bad. I still want to read Gabino's other big novel

2/5. I loved the Southern Reach trilogy, blazed through it, was excited for this. It feels like 2 short novels that are loosely tied. The tonal shift at the 1/2 point going to Lowry was jarring and frustrating as I was liking Old Jim and Cass. If there is a next, will have to think before reading

YES! Clay deserves this. One of the best reads. You will laugh and you will cry and there are parts that get under your skin. Clay is the best and he should win this

4/5 stars. This is a fun one. Fast and furious. Loving the female revenge subgenre that has really taken off lately. Could have maybe used a little more slow down at the end but fast and furious was ok, felt like a fever dream the last few chapters

Have I never seen the original Hellraiser? I do not remember this plot... That being said this was pretty good. 4/5. Lots of mystery still that could be built but I love the ending and how it all turned out, plus a creative way to rebuild Frank throughout

Had been waiting to read this one. 4.5 stars. I think it has started a little slower than I wanted but this thing gets going when it starts cooking. Honestly had no idea where the book was going to go when it came to the coffee scene but damn the landing was hit perfectly

Wake Up and Open Your Eye to American Rapture is a smooth transition with apocalyptic plagues, the right etc, but going to straight into Witchcraft For Wayward Girls is so easy too with this religious idea of womanhood, preservation. Didn't mean to do it but I love these threads connecting my novels

God. Damn. If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. Maeve was great and made me squirm but this was so brilliant from CJ. So many good questions about religion, god, women, the way we raise kids. I highlighted more than I ever do. Sofie and Ben are just a treat and the reminders of young love

First finished this year was a real treat, 4/5. Lots of great stories here, Alma Katsu, Christopher Golden, Malerman, Tananarive Due, Cassandra Khaw and Kaarin Warren. Golden started it with a bang and since it's January 5th beware the Schnabelperchten and get your house in order!

#69, 4.5/5 stars. @rachelharrison.bsky.social just always brings it. I felt a bit seen in this one with Annie and all her relationship feelings, issues, everything with her ex. The year of Rachel has sadly concluded for me, read all her books and no other author will challenge her for #1 this year.

#68 this year and #2 today. @manylittlewords.bsky.social with such a fun festive read. 5/5 will read every year. Nothing like the Wonka experience brought to life for Santa in a life or death Xmas extravaganza!

Book 67 this year. 4/5 stars. The lore was interesting & well done. Really like the concept, the ending was a little short and honestly a little bit of a let down. Also not sure if it was a glitch in my ebook or how the plot was but thought there was an unexplained jump. Want to read Spite House now
