On this day in 1881, Andrew Watson made history. He became the first black player to play international association football, captaining Scotland to a 6-1 victory over England.

Yesterday, in Halifax, a plaque was unveiled to the memory of Andrew Watson, the first black international football player. His mother, Hannah Rose, was Guyanese, born into slavery. His father, Peter Miller Watson was born in Orkney, of a prominent landowning family. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
