Agree with this. There's a much more positive narrative that could be developed about all the good things that are happening in towns deemed 'left behind' or whatever. We should talk about the Piece Hall or the Peaks just as much as the problems.

If I was looking for a regeneration model that could provide answers for large parts of the country, I would very much be looking into the work of Inner City Trust.

I don't disagree with the first two sentences, but I think in general there's been far too much movement from 'not really noticing the problem' to 'despair'. Let's experiment with 'people and organisations try and enforce the norm' and then see if it is actually hard for it to be re-bottled.

The cycling infrastructure in and around Girona is just another universe to most places. By the roads, through the parks, under bridges, just everywhere - hundreds of kms around the city and up into the surrounding hills. Chapeau indeed.

Whilst on Inis Mór last weekend I also visited Dún Eochla (Fort of Eochaill). Less ancient than the nearby Dún Aonghasa, it is thought to date from around 500-800 AD. Situated at the centre of the island and highest point, the views to Connemara and Clare are something else.
