It is sad that women are still not allowed to exist for themselves as they wish, that they and their appearance are subject to social control, that they are still seen as social decoration for the pleasure and benefit of others.

Society wants control, and many in society push the "average woman" as a measure of femininity. There is no such thing as an "average woman" because, as mentioned above, based on scientific studies, there are many variations, there are many types of averages in the population, including among women.

Vulnerable women with disabilities or chronic illnesses are subject to even more pressure from an ableist society. They have to prove their worth as human beings, because society sees illness and disability as disqualifying them from being human or having equal rights.

Unhealthy stereotypes about women and their bodies lead to discrimination against women who do not "fit" the stereotypes due to chronic illness or disability.

I was reflecting on the pressure placed on women's bodies to conform to absurd ideals and how much these stereotypes about femininity and what it means to be a woman are used to discriminate against women who have chronic illnesses, disabilities, or are of a different ethnicity.

A good article. Vulnerable people are not helped to lead a dignified life, but the world rushes to suggest euthanasia for them. How about we ensure they are supported in living a dignified life, we don't push them into abject poverty and despair, and then offer euthanasia as a solution.
