I think people in line for top government positions taking bribes to funnel government money to the bribers is corrupt and bad, not good. When law enforcement catches one taking bribes, they should prosecute that official rather than protect them. Sorry to get so partisan, but that’s how I feel.

What Walz and Pritzker and other Dem governors are doing is showing that the governors have *a lot* of power, and that most of us live under the rule of state law, not federal law, and that states can, as sovereignties, do *a lot* to fight fascism. In these times, federalism = liberty.

In his interview last night, Walz pretty much says we're done with Washington and we're gonna go our own way. That's the right spirit.

Government funding is the one card congressional Democrats have to play, and one they could and should use to push back against Trump's authoritarianism. What's their big demand? RFK Jr's resignation? Reforms in ICE? Stand down of National Guard? NOPE. "Obamacare enhanced premium tax credits"

This isn't just a case of them thinking too small. The fix they're proposing will shield their Republican colleagues from facing any blowback in the midterms over the health care cuts they voted for. They've got one card to play and they're using it to bail out the GOP. Unfuckingbelievable.

I suppose I could support on a plan to "save healthcare" but none of these come close to that, everything Dems have proposed is a one-year band-aid that vanishes after the midterms and thus helps the GOP consolidate power to do more damage. It's nonsensical, it's exactly what GOP leadership needs.

There is absolutely nothing inappropriate about this wayside marker. It integrates the latest scholarship on Civil War memory surrounding Stonewall Jackson and the proliferation of Confederate monuments in the twentieth century. I don't think people understand what a disaster this is for the NPS.

"And at Arlington House in Virginia, the former home of Robert E. Lee, who led the Army of Northern Virginia on the Confederate side, Trump officials have instructed park staff to stop using a booklet that was designed to teach children about slavery." There is no Arlington House without slavery.

Two sentences were found problematic in the booklet: “In 1829, Robert E. Lee promised to serve the Army and protect the United States. In 1861, he broke his promise and fought for slavery.” There is no Confederacy or Confederate army without slavery.

Good get by Greg. There’s a primary and all that, but this is consistent with a long-running pattern that genuinely anti-Trump Republicans and former Republicans are more prepared politically for the moment than the vast majority of elected Democrats and liberal elites.
