wild but believable - a lot of fields don't seem to have a norm that a citation to something should express a basic understanding of the thing cited

Fun thing is that the majority of the papers citing this work don't at all make use of the theory advanced therein, adopt our definitions, or build on our results. They do whatever they were going to do anyway, oftentimes in the way we warn against, and cite us to highlight the importance of theory!
