Yesterday I walked the Thames Bridges Trek in memory of much-missed former colleague and dear friend Rachel Cosgrave. Rachel loved London and walking so it seemed very apt.

A rare night out at the theatre this evening to see Inside No 9's Stage/Fright at the Wyndham's Theatre, which was so, so good! Hilarious, spooky, self-referential and clever all at the same time.

As I had to get them out for a meeting earlier, here's one of the treasures of the Cambridgeshire Collection - our jam! Three are strawberry jam, three are marmalade and they were made by Chivers of Histon for Queen Mary's dolls house. They're about the size of a thumb nail and have real jam inside.

This little chap - Scruffy - refused to leave the London Hospital ward where his master was. On the reverse it says ' Nurses have tried to make him go home...Every time the door opens he peeps in to see how his master is, but is not allowed inside the ward" #LoveYourPetDay

Forced to take an alternative route home this evening, and as a result had to walk down Fleet Street and the Strand. So much has changed since I last walked that way, including the pedestrianisation of area around St Mary Le Strand, which is a marked improvement!

This is a sewing pattern. It is also a page from a late 14th century manuscript that is one of two primary sources for an important Icelandic saga (Sturlunga saga), but that was probably not important to the 17th century person who really needed a sewing pattern. #upcycling

As custodians of thousands of unique historic records & objects, we have to ensure that we're prepared for potential disasters which could affect the collections. As part of our annual collections fortnight closure, today we tested our disaster planning with a simulated flood 💦 & mould outbreak 😲

St Paul's Cathedral is closed to tourists until Thursday for a number of reasons -- including a "emergency services exercise" - if you wonder why there's a load of fire engines outside it one day this week.
