If you want a great example why T20 cricket has an age crisis than look no further than today's SA20 auction. 46-year-old Imran Tahir goes unsold twice then goes for above asking price after a bidding war in the third round. Why not pick a youth player instead? There were plenty of other options.

Great stuff, but when access to the Women's ODI world cup is limited to fewer than 20 teams. It's not really helping to grow the game. This is before we get into the discussion that this move widens the existing divide between 'haves' and 'have-nots' in women's international cricket.

I'm glad the folk at @caribcricket.bsky.social recognise the T20 age crisis issue and keep pushing it. What's happened with CPL is going to be replicated in other franchise leagues around the world if things don't change.
