The funniest interactions I had at Riptide involve people who heard me root for their team and said "We need to lock in for Kyon". Someone from Fruit Punch Sundae said this to me (I forgot who) and I was cackling a little considering I picked their team to win LUTI D5. Surely enough, they did.

I will say, this was my second proper Spl tourney I played in (first LAN since 2018) and I'm so glad I participated. I had some reservations because my skills were never up to par and I was afraid of the stigma I had from playing League, Overwatch, etc. My opponents made me feel at home.
