These are concepts that are hard to articulate, but we will achieve healing of society this way. We have to think of how we talk to each other in community especially. Even I fall into that "try to win the conversation" way of speaking. It's a long process, to decolonize speech.

Colonial speech patterns, even when used in a cordial manner, always want to dominate the other. They always want to be in the right, thus when you speak, it is about winning. When Indigenous ways of speaking happen, it is to come to understanding (which is also not the same as "meeting halfway").

One of the ways colonization changed Indigenous communities is how we speak to each other in a community. We need to speak to each other not by the patterns of the colonial world, but rather our own conversational patterns. Look at how colonial speech patterns move.
