Ten people died on Atlanta roads in the first quarter of 2025. Propel ATL and the Safe Streets Coalition got the City of Atlanta to officially commit to Vision Zero—setting the goal of eliminating these preventable deaths—in 2020.

What happens when you build the trails before the rails? You get Atlanta's Beltline, a project which after two decades has still not added the rail.

Is it possible that…urbanism is a winning strategy in cities?

This is great news, but it's still disappointing how long it takes for affordable housing to be built. Many of these projects with tax incentives are taking 3-5 years in the planning process.

Atlanta area 2025 population estimates from ARC. Fulton and Gwinnett counties had the greatest growth, accounting for 53% of total metro growth. The highest percentage growth is in two exurban counties (Cherokee 2.4% and Forsyth 2.4%) and the city of Atlanta (2.0%).

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area. (15 in Manhattan btw)
