MARTA makes it so hard to support transit. The bus route redesign originally scheduled for 2022 has been delayed again. "[MARTA interim CEO Hunt] said the planned bus network redesign launch will no longer occur in 2025." Hat tip to ThreadATL for sharing:

I love the Beltline. This article is a pretty good summary of its problems and shortcomings.

I particularly like how it points out that landowners made a fortune from the trail and then opposed equitable rail transit.

What happens when you build the trails before the rails? You get Atlanta's Beltline, a project which after two decades has still not added the rail.

This is great news, but it's still disappointing how long it takes for affordable housing to be built. Many of these projects with tax incentives are taking 3-5 years in the planning process.

Daily reminder that the entire board of "Better Atlanta Transit" are millionaires who have greatly profited from an increase in their home values due to our taxpayer investment in the Beltline, and now want to deny access to anyone that isn't driving a car.

Incredibly disappointing from the Beltline CEO. Starting at 12:55. "I don't think eastside rail makes sense." We voted for it and have been taxing ourselves since 2018. We're screwed as a city if we can't even build this slamdunk transit project.

Atlanta area 2025 population estimates from ARC. Fulton and Gwinnett counties had the greatest growth, accounting for 53% of total metro growth. The highest percentage growth is in two exurban counties (Cherokee 2.4% and Forsyth 2.4%) and the city of Atlanta (2.0%).

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area. (15 in Manhattan btw)

This is a sidewalk on my walk this morning. It's a moral failure when we won't fix this, but can spend $115 million on a militarized police training center.
