Mostly game thoughts. Contributor @Checkpoint Gaming. I'm angry at the government and my tummy hurts
As a certified Remedy Sicko I was crushed when I got this for review and had to give it a 6. It's just a weird hodgepodge of half-baked ideas. However an executive shouldering the failure, rather than layoffs, is a silver lining in what is otherwise a baffling move from Remedy.

I wonder if Glenn Israel's departure (leaving after 17 years on Halo) quote including references to not trading away your values and ethics is related to this somehow. Anyway, Halo franchise management continues to be in shambles.

Live service narrative has always been the MCU of video game storytelling. There should be no expectation for a true ending when the base economic unit of the game is diametrically opposed to it.

A few years ago as a copywriter I had a boss who told me that he could tell when something was in the "Apple tone of voice" even when it was just "welcome". He'd just come back from WWDC.

I was worried MIGW this year would be a bummer given the state of, well, everything. But weirdly the shared recognition that everything is fucked has left me feeling energized. There's a lot wrong with how this industry is and works, but the people isn't one of them. Til next time gamers.

Evidently an attempt to get Halo fans back on board after what has been a tumultuous period for the franchise (to say the least). Personally I'd love a new Halo that pushes the series forward rather than attempting to edit a piece of gaming history. Sorry, The Library is just like that.

I played more Hades 2 in early access than Hades in total, and in my opinion it's better in almost metric. My one comment for people who waited to dive in is, in my opinion, Hades 2 is SUBSTANTIALLY easier than the original. Curious to see if that ends up being the consensus?

An interesting thing about Silksong is the way that it combines elements of the classic Metroid and Castlevania games. Could this be the start of a new genre?

Hell is Us Review - What's past is present
The defining design pillar of Hell is Us is a refusal to guide the player. There are no waypoints, no quest markers, and very little in the way of an actual objective to follow.
